For activity this week we're focusing on la patria, patriotism since this week marks Nicaragua's independence...September 15th! While I'm not a citizen here, I enjoy celebrating with the girls and love seeing them be proud of their country. We had them draw an image or words that they think represents patriotism in Nicaragua. There are so many special things about Nicaragua, from the flag, to the landscapes and the folkloric dances. It just reminds me that we all should be proud of where we come from no matter our circumstances, our beliefs or our government...your country is such a part of who you are because of culture, because of community and it's beautiful to watch these girls grow and learn these things.
